300.000 Km/s

Mar Santamaria-Varas and Pablo Martinez-Diez are co-founders of the design studio 300.000 Km/s, specialised in Data Analysis and Visualisation applied to Urban Design.

Both architects from the School of Architecture of Barcelona, their research activity gradually integrated other disciplines and design tools. At present, they work with Data Analysis and Visualisation to propose new ways to depict subjective and objective mechanisms taking place in cities trough human-place transactions and collective dynamics -alongside the tools required to impact on them. They are associates of the Open Data Institute (ODI).

Their projects have appeared in Wired, CityLab, Mas Context, A+U, Springer and Landscape Frontiers among other reference publications. Their projects have been presented at the Venice Biennale, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona and the Barcelona Design Museum.

They combine professional practice with academic activity. They are faculty at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) and the School of Architecture of Barcelona. They have lectured in several international faculties (Welsh School of Architecture, ESA Paris, Roma Tre, AA Visiting School) and public institutions (CCCB Barcelona, MediaLab Madrid).
