The Room of Silence reactivates a former goat stable through a community-driven transformation into a collective gathering space linked to Korbach’s renewable energy agenda. Instead of reconstructing the damaged roof, the intervention introduces a recycled concrete ring beam that stabilizes the existing structure while maintaining an open-air interior condition.

The resulting spatial enclosure operates as a cultivated garden, where local vegetation is collectively maintained, producing a dense and inhabitable green environment. A suspended hammock occupies the center of the space, anchored by four stones that symbolically reference the city’s primary renewable energy infrastructures—wind, water, biogas, and solar—responsible for the majority of its energy production.

Beyond its spatial qualities, the project functions as a social catalyst, fostering communal use and environmental awareness. It has become an active meeting place, particularly for younger users, supporting initiatives such as reforestation efforts and other locally driven ecological actions.
