Ctrl+Z Arquitectura develops collaborative, participatory, self-construction and low-tech initiatives around the world. These initiatives have been recognized at the institutional level and, more importantly, within the host communities and the territories that they serve.
Our belief is that the social nature and sustainability of architecture can’t be found in the design or in the materials, but rather in its approach and interaction with the communities and in the work schemes it employs, in which participation should always be joined by empowerment. Those schemes, more than specific shapes or the use of unorthodox materials draw a continuity and a coherence in the developed work and constitute the solid base of our proposals. Ctrl+Z practice combines investigation, experimentation, social and real scale projects, with dissemination and teaching activities.
