In this conversation, the Bangalore-based architecture studio ShoulderTap reflects on narrative as a method embedded in the domestic design process. In their practice, architecture does not begin with form, but with the ordinary and often unspoken patterns of daily life: how a family gathers and interacts, when they retreat, how mornings unfold, and how space is habitually occupied. Against this backdrop, ShoulderTap describes an approach in which the home is shaped not as an abstract object, but as a response to lived routines, relationships, and the subtle encounters that domestic space can enable or transform.
