This project began by looking at the relationship between the site and the surrounding context.
We asked how, in a small scale residential area with three story buildings, this project will integrate with the site. And, which kinds of materials will be used to create the structural forms according to the client’s plan? How will this project be distinctive while keeping in harmony with the surrounding environment?
According to the project plan, the structure is divided into independent forms and then the forms go through an additional recombination process. Dividing the structure into several forms is one of the methods for overcoming the relative physical size of a single mass.
The main materials are modular bricks, chosen to give the optical illusion of reduced size. Three heavy vertical bricks are placed on a light horizontal polycarbonate. This combination of materials seeks to give the unusual visual effect that the forms are defying gravity.
