Guilherme Machado Vaz was born in Porto (Portugal) in 1974.
Graduated in Architecture at the ‘Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto’ (FAUP) in 1998. Worked as a collaborator for Eduardo Souto de Moura in 1996 and 1997.
As architect for the Matosinhos City Hall has designed and built Custóias Civic Center, Custóias Football Club and, more recently, Casa da Arquitectura in Matosinhos, that won the National Prize for Urban Rehabilitation and an Honorable Mention in the FAD Awards in 2018.
At his own office he has developed several projects, like the Valley House and Afife House.
Between 2008 and 2010 he worked on a project of 4 houses as a local architect for the David Chipperfield’s office in the ‘Bom Sucesso, Golf Resort and Spa’ project in Óbidos.
Project teacher at the Architecture course of the ‘Universidade Lusófona do Porto’ since 2012 and invited teacher at Politecnico di Milano in 2017/2018.
Lectured in several national and foreign institutions. Jury member for the Spanish Prize of Iberian Architecture FAD in 2008.
Leader at the workshops Porto Academy 2015 (FAUP) and Wa.ve 2016 (IUAV Venezia).
His projects have won several awards and are published in Portuguese and international architecture magazines.
