BASE URBANA is an architecture firm that has been working with the BASE concept since 2008. It combines multidisciplinary teams and partner architects to participate in different design actions at different scales for people interested in a participatory, personalized and creative process.
The architects and urban planners Catherine Otondo and Marina Grinover compose the core of Base Urbana. Both maintain a regular educational activity as teachers; thereby they integrate academic research with the daily challenges of the practice. Both work by complementary actions, combining gesture and experimentation, designing with the rigor of the industrial needs and creative solutions.
Because of its unique creative process the office has designed different sorts of projects among them, got various awards as: Urban Age (with Pessoa Arquitetos 2008); Renova SP (with Pessoa Arquitetos 2012); APCA Best Urban Space 2014 – Sapé Urbanization (with Pessoa Arquitetos, 2014); Sesc Limeria Cultural Center (with Pianca Urano, Sepe and Sabia Arquitetos, 2017); Cocó Parc Reurbanization (with Cota 760, 2017).
