The Sidera Building
Architects: tissellistudioarchitetti
Location: Forli, Province of Forlì-Cesena, Italy
The Sidera building, the new CIA Conad headquarters, stands as a symbol of sustainability and innovation, strategically located on the outskirts of Forlì. Designed to respond to the blandness of its industrial surroundings, it offers a thoughtful blend of flexibility, functionality, and environmental consciousness. The building’s exterior, composed of aluminum, concrete, and glass, reflects changing light throughout the day, creating a dynamic and visually striking effect. Its pitched roof and skylights establish a dialogue with the Apennine skyline, while the interior design, guided by principles of neuro-architecture, ensures optimal working conditions.
Sidera’s design tells a story of creativity and functionality. Large staircases and communal spaces encourage interaction and foster a sense of community, while the layout’s interplay of compressed and expansive spaces delivers a unique architectural experience. This design not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also promotes well-being and productivity among its occupants.
Surrounding the building, 300 trees and 22,000 plants create a greener and more inviting environment, counterbalancing the industrial setting. Sidera’s presence is a transformative addition to the area, enriching the quality of life for cooperative employees and visitors alike.
Notable sustainability features include a 1.2 MW photovoltaic system that meets the building’s energy requirements. This commitment to environmental responsibility is reflected throughout the design, incorporating elements that minimize consumption and reduce environmental impact. Sidera is a testament to the cooperative’s dedication to innovative and sustainable design, establishing it as a landmark in the region.
In summary, the Sidera building is more than a workplace; it is a statement of human-centric design and environmental responsibility. Embodying the cooperative’s values, it transforms the industrial outskirts of Forlì into a hub of innovation and sustainability, offering a thoughtful and inspiring environment for its occupants.
