Suprarural by Pablo Gerson
These images of the agrarian landscapes of the Argentine Pampas and the American Midwest seek to emphasize the homogeneity and de-dramatization of territorial representation. At the same time, they express a certain artificiality – even strangeness – in the decomposition of their elements, thus producing an aligned visual archive. As a whole, the archive manages to reconstruct a productive territory and its imaginary through serialization and repetition.
This photographic survey was made in the context of Suprarural by Ciro Najle and LluÃs Ortega, with the support of Universidad Torcuato Di Tella (Buenos Aires), University of Illinois (Chicago) and the Graham Foundation.
