Polar Silk Road by Gregor Sailer
Temperatures that reach 55 degrees Celsius below zero, military restriction zones, extensive research, and the unpredictability of the Arctic made this project, using an analog camera, an enormous challenge.
The Polar Silk Road deals with the economic exploitation of the Arctic regions, as well as the territorial claims of the respective neighboring states, and shows the consequences: geopolitical tensions, expansion, and a reactivation of military structures and research stations.
Exhibited at the Lumen Museum of Mountain Photography from 29.08.201 to 24.04.2022.
