New Generations Festival - Architects vs. Rest of the World
New Generations (NG) was conceived by Gianpiero Venturini (Itinerant Office) in 2012, with the aim of creating a European platform for young students and architectural firms, a network based on collaboration and cultural exchange.
The idea of the project comes from the desire to understand how the profession has been changing during the last few years, since the economic crisis in 2008: many young studios had to adapt to the different working scene, proposing new working patterns which involved the collaboration with other fields.
NG is articulated within the video format: the pilot project has been developed around 3 countries of the European Community (Italy, Spain and the Netherlands). In each country, several correspondents have been recording a series of video interviews of a selection of young architects, asking a series of basic questions related to some common topics: the crisis, the educational system, the approach to the profession, the future of the discipline.
