Can research demonstrate a direct link between greening and gentrification?
Isabelle Anguelovski addresses this question by presenting green gentrification as a measurable urban phenomenon. Drawing on a comparative analysis of 30 cities across the EU and North America, she shows how greening and environmental improvement can, to varying degrees, help explain processes of gentrification. At the citywide scale, these interventions may play a subsidiary, integrated, or even leading role in the displacement of lower-income residents and influx of wealthier population.
