vora is an architecture studio founded in 2000. The studio is led by Pere Buil (1973) and Toni Riba (1973), who both graduated from ETSAB in 2000. They work on building design and urban design, on different scales and with different typologies. They combine professional activity with teaching, curating and cultural action.
Their approach to the design and construction process is abstract and material. They are interested in reduction and materiality as a response to today’s challenges, and in vestiges and ruins as the residue of memory and their impact on collective identities.
Their work has received numerous awards, including the Archmarathon Award 2014, the City of Barcelona Prize 2013, AJAC 2012, Architecture + 2011, Bonaplata 2007, and it has been selected for several editions of the FAD awards, ENOR, the BigMat Award, the Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (BEAU), the European Landscape Biennial, and Arquia/Próxima. In the last two editions of the Venice Architecture Biennale, their work was exhibited in the Spanish pavilion (Unfinished) and the Catalan pavilion (Grafting Architecture).
