SILO AR+D is an architecture, research and design practice directed by Frank Jacobus and Marc Manack. Our work is the hybrid energy of two partners who engage architecture through building, teaching, and writing. Rather than a single guiding theory, SILO has an enthusiasm to create architecture that is qualitatively-rich, with vividly distinct characters that are revealed through changes in time, use, and place.

The practice formally began in 2009, but really got going in 2012, and we currently operate out of Ohio and Arkansas. We haven’t had the luxury of luxury, but we refuse to over-romanticize our regionalism or use it as a crutch: we instead embrace it as work ethic that is equal parts resourceful and experimental.

SILO AR+D has completed projects for a variety of clients and communities, much of which has been recognized for its design and execution.
