MX_SI is an experimental architecture studio formed by Mara Partida, Boris Bezan and Héctor Mendoza, with headquarters in Barcelona. The studio was founded in 2005, when the team won first prize for the design of the Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada, currently under construction. The studio focuses primarily on developing public competitions in the cultural sphere or for historic city centers. Gradually, the team’s creative activity has been consolidated, and they have won numerous prizes in national and international competitions, including Europan 8 in Goteborg Sweden 2006, the Lucena Auditorium in Córdoba 2006, and the ROG art center in Ljubljana 2008. Their work has also been recognized with national prizes, including the Spanish National Architecture Award 2013. In 2014, they were finalists for awards such as the Finnish Architecture Prize and the Young Architect of the Year award in the UK, and they won the Merit Award in the international category of the North American Wood Design Awards (Canada), among others. In 2015, they won the Plecnik Prize (Slovenia) and were nominated for the Mies van der Rohe prize and the Iakov Chernikov International Award, which recognizes architects under the age of 44.

MX_SI operates on the basis of continuously exploring architectural essence as a logical and comprehensive dialogue among structure, geometry, context, spatial and visual expression. Their work stands out for its versatility in solving complex programs, understanding users’ needs, the context, and materiality on the whole. It also shows a significant sensitivity to time, in order to integrate the new with the already existing, highlighting the plastic qualities of their projects and the environment.
