Monique Gross is an American/French independent writer, architectural photographer and translator who was born in Los Angeles, California. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History in San Francisco (1996) and achieved a Master’s Degree in Information Science at the University of Iowa (honours, 1998) before moving to Paris, France where she lived for 13 years and worked in several cultural institutions. Her next move was to Hanoi, Vietnam where she lived for 4 years and wrote several pieces on the artistic and architectural development of that effervescent city. Currently she is engaged in research about the modern architectural development of Abu Dhabi.
Along with her more recently published pieces about Hanoi, she has written art exhibition reviews, artist interviews, book reviews and performed two Pecha Kucha presentations. Her translation client list includes cultural institutions, development researchers and documentary film makers.
