BASALT Architects is an architectural office established in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 2009. A dynamic team of architects and designers brings together a rich and extensive architectural design and construction experience in Iceland and abroad. Committed to the artistic and poetic dimension of architecture in concept, detail and execution, they provide quality work and services on projects of different content, expression and scale.
Their work includes several award-winning projects in the past, such as the different phases of the Blue Lagoon spa and Hofsós swimming pool, both nominated for the Mies van der Rohe award in 2000 and 2010 respectively.
Sustainability is an important keystone in their design and Basalt has been a member of the Icelandic Green Building Council and Nordic Built from the start.
