Black Country Type by Tom Hicks
Artist Tom Hicks has spent the last six years documenting the post-industrial landscape of the West Midlands, in the UK. His images are taken on free-from explorations through the region, typically by bicycle.
His photographs focus on a region known as The Black Country, an area that derives its name from the period when it was the smoke-filled center of the Industrial Revolution.
With an emphasis on color, Hicks’ images explore decline and change in the region, focusing on buildings, objects and typography.
