Calm Spots received an honorable mention by Boston Urban Mechanics
Calm Spots is about creating places within our busy and stressful lives where we can find some mental space.
This year, the Boston Public Service Invitational challenge was about re-imagining the city’s public space in a community-oriented manner.
In order to achieve this, we created Calm Spots: places within our busy and stressful lives where we can find some mental space. Research tels us that simple short meditation exercises can result in better mental focus, reduced anxiety and stress, better relationships, and increased overall health.
Placed at six different locations within Boston, we activate the city’s street benches by incorporating colourful decals and simple sensor-based technologies that give you access to podcasts and content that help people find that inner balance.
Calm Spots aim to amplify people’s urban experiences in meaningful ways, while gathering data about our environments.
