Sant Joan Landfield Regeneration

Sant Joan Landfield Regeneration, Garraf, Spain. This project, designed in collaboration with Batlle i Roig Architects, is the regeneration of the surface of a landfill built in a narrow valley of a karstic mountain.

The proposal is based in constructing a system of terraces. Each esplanade is subdivided into parcels following a pattern which allows dual purposes of gas extraction and the cultivation of legume herbs that will contribute to the improvement of soil quality over time. A dense planting of Mediterranean shrubs and trees on the slopes of the terraces will provide a connection between of the two sides of the valley for wildlife.
