Otis Elevators Selected for New Creative Cultural Hub in Fujian

TIANJIN, China, Sept. 27, 2016 – The Strait Media Plaza, a mixed-use complex now under construction in Fuzhou, the capital of China’s southeastern Fujian province, will use 42 Otis elevators and escalators. The complex is expected to become a cultural and creative hub for the region and a new landmark for the city. Otis is a unit of United Technologies Corp.

Located on the city’s West Jiangbin Avenue with a construction area of about 620,000 square meters, the Strait Media Plaza will incorporate commercial, retail and residential developments. It will include the 174-meter Fujian Daily headquarters, four towers purpose-built for the small-office sector, and five 120-meter high-rise residential buildings.

The Otis elevators selected for the complex include six Otis SkyRise® elevators and nine Otis Gen2® Premier commercial elevators. Designed for high-rise buildings and skyscrapers, the Otis SkyRise® elevator offers a rise of up to 600 meters with single-deck, double-deck and super-double-deck configurations. It is already in use in a number of China’s new urban landmarks, including Shenzhen Ping’an Financial Center, Tianjin Chow Tai Fook Center and Chengdu Yintai Center.

The Gen2® Premier elevator, a new generation of the energy-efficient Otis Gen2 elevator, is customized for high-end commercial developments. It offers passengers an enhanced ride experience while also saving energy, building space and installation time for developers and building owners.

“The Strait Media Plaza project will showcase Otis’ proven high-rise solutions and service support,” said Luis Molina, president, Otis Elevator (China) Investment Co., Ltd. “As Fuzhou continues to grow as a center of high-value economic activity, Otis will continue to introduce innovative technologies that enhance high-rise commercial and residential properties by delivering passenger comfort, safety and energy efficiency.”

Otis Elevator (China) Co. Ltd, a local Otis operating company, will provide the elevator and escalator units.
