Komitu Architects

They are Noora Aaltonen, Sisko Hovila, Tuuli Kassi, Maiju Suomi, Elina Tenho and Inari Virkkala – a group of young architects who want to create socially and ecologically sustainable architecture together. They founded KOMITU in 2010 with the main aim of realizing a youth center to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Their collaboration with Cambodian actors began within the Cambodia Studios of Aalto University. Inari, Noora and Sisko joined an urban design course in Cambodia in 2009 and Elina, Maiju and Tuuli participated in a public buildings course a year later.

Komitu is a member of Finnish ngo Ukumbi, which aims at alleviating poverty trough participatory architecture.
