Emanuel Giannotti is an architect and has a PhD in Urbanism. He is currently undertaking post-doctoral research about the popular neighbourhoods of Santiago de Chile. Since spring 2012 he has been part of the teaching staff of the European postgraduate Masters in Urbanism (IUAV University of Venice). For some years he collaborated with the studio of Paola Vigan. and Bernardo Secchi, based in Milan, following urban projects in Belgium, France and Spain.
His recent research is focused on the social dynamics at the heart of urban transformations, in order to evaluate the multiple interactions between actors and stakeholders, the role of the technicians and how they respond to a specific social and political context and the influence of those dynamics in the creation of urban forms.
