This document, presented at the European Building Summit Barcelona by the Cartography Section of the AMB, details the integration of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) through the generation of IFC-format territorial models. It traces the evolution of metropolitan cartography since 2002, highlighting milestones such as the development of 3D city models, the automation of data processes, and the incorporation of IFC models enriched with geometric and informational layers. The work emphasizes the creation of a comprehensive digital framework for urban planning, infrastructure management, and public space design, complemented by web-based geoanalytics and open-access visualization tools.
