Areti Markopoulou
Areti Markopoulou is a Greek architect, researcher and educator. She is currently the Academic Director at IaaC, Barcelona. Her research and practice design explores new architectural models investigating applications of ICTs, Energy and Fabrication allowing built and public space to dynamically adapt to behavioral and environmental changes over time. She holds a Bachelor in Architecture & Engineering from DUTH – Greece, a MArch from IaaC and a Fab Academy diploma on Digital Fabrication by the MIT CBA and the Fab Lab Network. She is currently a PhD candidate in the UPC, Barcelona.
Her practice includes collaborations with multidisciplinary offices and has led and collaborated in projects ranging from Intelligent Cities: Smart BCN and Energy BCN for Barcelona City Council, 2013-15, Self Sufficient Buildings, Fab Lab House for Solar Decathlon, 2010, Digital Fabrication, Fabrication Laboratory for DHUB, 2010 and the Internet of Things, Hyperhabitat for the XI Venice Biennale, 2008.
